But after trying very hard not to cut or damage the soft plastic I wasn't successful because the corner edge of the card scored the plastic and effectively cut it open. This then caused it to fail the water test, which unfortunately I just found out before leaving on my trip where I would have needed this protection.I'm sure the product would have been fine if the makers would have thought about this critical packaging detail. They could have printed the inside card on softer paper or cloth or kept the damn card simply out of the pouch and attached it to the outside via some removable adhesive. I wanted a small pack for hiking trips and based on previous reviews (not to mention the great price) I decided on this one. It's got plenty of storage for a few meals and snacks. There is a side pocket for a water bottle but it's a bit small so a thinner bottle will be needed. The material seems to be durable but the zipper feels a bit cheap. However, it's all held up very well so far and I've taken it through some pretty rough conditions so I can't really fault it on this.Anyways, this is great for hiking but as most other people have said: I wouldn't even try to use this as a school pack unless you only carry one or two books at a time.
