Product Description : Amazon.com Product Description : Two of the most crucial pieces of exercise equipment are a heart rate monitor and a good music player. Now Sportline combines the best of both worlds with the 1075 META. Short for Music Enhanced Training Assistant, the META continuously monitors your heart rate via the included chest belt. Once strapped on, the device provides accurate ECG heart readings while you power down the path or push through your 20th pushup, letting you follow your heart rate variations down to the second. At the same time, the 1075 META plays all your favorite songs, with storage capacity for up to 1 GB of digital music. Just set your desired fitness goals and plug in some tunes, and the META player does the rest. The META player even provides audible, in-ear feedback when you reach and/or exceed your heart-rate and fitness zones. It's like having your own personal trainer, but one who's capable of playing music as well. Other features include a target zone selector, a rechargeable battery, a battery-level indicator, and a pair of earbuds. About Heart Rate TrainingTurns out, your heartbeat is a pretty big deal. It's actually one of the most important indicators of overall wellness, and is one of the most effective elements of any fitness program. Your heart rate not only controls your body but also the efficiency of your exercise. To get the most out of your physical activity--whether it's walking, dancing or aerobics--you need to make sure you are in your target heart rate zone. To determine your target heart rate, first subtract your age from 220. That's your maximum heart rate. Your target heart rate is roughly 50 to 75 percent of this maximum heart rate. To see how your fitness level is progressing over time, measure and track your resting heart rate--usually between 60 and 100 beats per minute--on a weekly basis. As you become more fit, your resting heart rate will decrease. Your target heart rate generally encompasses three zones. Exercising in the Active Zone (50 to 60 percent of maximum heart rate) reduces blood pressure and cholesterol and is ideal for fitness beginners or those on a low-intensity program. Almost all calories burned in this zone are fat calories. Reaching the Training Zone (60 to 70 percent of maximum heart rate) requires more intense aerobic activity and is perfect for fitness enthusiasts working to burn maximum calories and fat. Finally, exercising in the Endurance Zone (70 to 80 percent of maximum heart rate) is generally recommended for athlete in training. The primary benefits of this zone are cardiovascular strengthening and elevated caloric burn.Product Description : META is an advanced music enhanced training assistant that continuously monitors your heart rate while playing your favorite songs. Set your desired fitness goals, plug in your favorite songs, and the META player does the rest. The META player even provides audible, in-ear feedback regarding your heart-rate and fitness zones. I almost didn't buy this because of the other reviews, but in the end because of the $70 discount off of the list price and the features of this Audible HRM I bought one for nyself and one for my wife. This is my 6th HRM purchase over 15 years so I am not new to HRM's and just think they are cool. The short of it is that the other reviews are true. It does sometimes give off incorrect heart rate readings especially when my wife and I are running within 5 or 6 feet of each other but it does correct itself within 2 or 3 seconds or when I shift the chest strap, I also use my old Sportline Duo HRM watch and between the two they keep accurate track all the time (with any of my chest strap HRM's I always use Electrode Gel so maybe some of the other reviews were new to HRM's) . To get it to be regognized by my laptop the first time I had to plug it in and wait for the drivers to be installed, then unplug it and plug it back in, then a folder pops up and I could put my music on it, after the first time it works like any other removable device.I have found that with this device calling out my heart rate and telling me when I am below my zone or above it I train my heart rate more consistantly and having 2GB of music storage on this device to listen to makes running 6 miles 3x a week a lot less tedious.Truth is I would rather have an Addidas MyCoach and a Garmin 405 working together, but this combination works and it is about $450 less expensive. My wife also loves hers, for her this is the first HRM that does give her accurate readings not 50 BPM when she is running or 200 bpm when she is sitting down.I gave this 5 stars because it does work as well as any other HRM I have used, at $18 ish it is less than 1/2 the price of my other HRM's and the Audible Coaching rally does help me to meet my HR training goals especially when I am training over 155 bpm and I don't feel like looking at my watch every 10 seconds or so. Ok, will admit I was worried that it would not work very well because of the price. But I am happy to report that this is a GREAT device. The battery last for hours and it easy to load songs on it. And the BEST part is the heart rate part. Your heart rate reads out on the screen (which is a crappy screen but who cares for the price) But the best part is the devise calls out your HR over your earphones. It is so cool. I am so glad I bought this!!! You don't have to look anywhere to check your heart rate. You can concentrate on your workout and not have to read some device to ck you heart rate. I was going to pay $150 for a heart rate monitor watch before I saw this one. I am glad I didn't. Very please with it. Got this mp3 and heart-rate monitor after reading all the reviews and am super impress with my purchase. Windows 7 had no problem installing and charging the device and using windows media player to auto sync my tunes. Its AWESOME!!!!!
